7/3/84 - Parish founded on St. Thomas the Apostle Feast Day

7/7/84 - First Mass at “St. Sunrise” (Sunrise Elementary School)

2/85 - Religious Education Program begins

4/85 - Religious Education students celebrate First Penance,  First Holy Communion

4/85 - Bishop Manuel Moreno administers Confirmation

6/85 - We move into our “Modular” Church on our property

3/86 - Permission received to build Phase I of our Master Plan (Church/Parish Office Complex)

4//86 - Groundbreaking

4/87 - FIRST MASS EASTER MORNING IN NEW CHURCH

1/88 - Dedication of St. Thomas the Apostle Church

11/89 - Construction begins on Phase II (Parish Hall/Classrooms)

5/90 - Open House—Parish Center

1/92 - Construction begins on Phase III (Religious Education offices / classrooms)

7/93 - Open House—Religious Education Building

8/94 - Preschool opens in Religious Education Building

4/97 - Construction begins on Phase IV (Chapel/Preschool)

3/98 - Open House—Preschool

4/98 - Open House—Blessed Sacrament Chapel

1/01 - Mortgage Burning

8/09 - Title of Monsignor bestowed on Father Todd O’Leary

3/10 - Monsignor Todd O’Leary appointed Pastor Emeritus

7/10 - Father John Lyons appointed our new Pastor

8/10 - Preschool renamed to include Kindergarten-age children

6/11 - Construction begins on Phase V (O’Leary Hall, Parish Hall kitchen remodel and Rectory)

6/11 - Fr. Alex Tigga appointed Associate Pastor at St. Thomas

9/11 - Parish Hall kitchen remodel completed

5/12 - Rectory completed

6/12 - O’Leary Hall completed

7/13 - Fr. Alex appointed Pastor at Infant Jesus of Prague Parish, Kearny, AZ; Fr. Jay Jensen appointed Associate Pastor at St. Thomas

5/16 - Structural damage to church;  Masses held in Parish Hall

The parish grew from 120 families in 1984 to almost 2,000 in 2012.
